Repic appoints Business Development Manager

Repic, the UK's largest waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) producer compliance scheme (PCS), has welcomed a new Business Development Manager to the team.

Michelle Wass has been appointed to work with local authorities to offer advice and guidance on WEEE recycling and make it easier for councils to facilitate sustainable WEEE management. She joins the team following three years in a similar role.

Dr Philip Morton, CEO of Repic, said: "It's great to welcome Michelle to the Repic team. Michelle's role is one that will grow in importance over coming months as we approach a period of radical change for the WEEE system in the UK. The WEEE Recast is currently in the process of being transposed into national law and consultations are underway to decide on the most suitable WEEE system for the UK. Any changes to the current system could affect the way local authorities collect and dispose of WEEE, making it more important than ever for organisations to have good, direct relationships with their PCSs, to help them to make a smooth transition to a new system."

Michelle added: "The changes to the WEEE system will ultimately make it more effective. However, in order to make these changes have the greatest possible impact we need to explore the most direct and efficient ways for WEEE to be recycled. A big part of this is encouraging close relationships between local authorities and PCSs, so I'll be working with our existing local authority partners and potential new partners to ensure that, as a scheme, we are providing them with all the support they need."
