Product Spotlight – The TC55 Charging Cradle

“As part of an ongoing series here at 51T, we’re putting one of our products in the spotlight, to examine its benefits, the challenges it has helped clients overcome, and how exactly it can be used. First in the hot-seat is the “Motorola” TC55 charging cradle…

The product was initially designed for a customer – their managed services partner came to Pete, our founder, and asked him to design a charging solution for the new TC55 device that was being rolled out to most of their network.

The new cradle needed to meet a number of criteria. The typical operational charging ruggedness was missing from the manufacturer of the device, and the manufacturer was not creating cradles that were suitable for the environment in which the device was being deployed in. Thus, 51T were called to solve the problem.

The new charging cradle, designed and developed by Pete, has a number of exciting features, including the ability to charge in or out of the device rubber boot, and being able to charge with a hand strap. The device can be inserted or removed with just one hand for total ease of use, and can be mounted in a variety of ways: suction, vent, multibay and cabinet mounting are a breeze with this new cradle.

As with all 51T products, the components of the charging cradle are replaceable or repairable – so when certain parts of the unit have worn out through general usage, the part in question can simply be replaced, rather than buying a whole new cradle. An LED charging indicator on the cradle shows how much battery life the device has left, and the cradle is interchangeable with single bay chargers, as well as four or even five bay chargers.

A 12-month warranty is available on all orders of this product, and customers can upgrade it to five years for total peace of mind. With an RRP under £50.00, this product is one of the most competitive and reasonably priced on the market.

The cradle can be used in warehouses, fleets, supermarkets, shops, hotels, restaurants, theme parks and more – the sky is the limit! Mobile working and data transfer is the future, and customers should prepare by investing in the right materials for the job. The cradle is currently under an NDA until September, until the prototype is finalised – but in just a few short months, it will be widely offered to the broader marketplace and available for purchase on the 51T website. www.51t.co.uk
