Pickerings Plant picks up new equipment and extends their transport fleet

Pickerings Plant, the East Midlands based hirer of plant and temporary accommodation, have signalled their confidence in a growing market, by simultaneously expanding their rental fleet and enhancing their own internal transport and delivery systems.

With growth forecast at all of their 10 depots, Pickerings Plant has purchased a line of Atlas single tool compressors from the Leicester based plant distributor, BTE Plant Sales and over forty static canteen welfare units from the specialist manufacturer Newspace Containers Limited.

In addition, Pickerings Plant have increased their fleet of secure units - investing in over 100 - canteens, offices & stores, all built to the highest standards of security by Gloucestershire based, Newspace.

In order that their accommodation fleet is delivered to site swiftly and safely, the company has purchased a new Scania P320 lorry fitted with the latest Fassi 455A Dynamic crane. This is the third vehicle of this type to be rolled out by Pickerings Plant in the last 12 months. Working alongside their vehicle suppliers, a great deal of time and effort was spent in designing the vehicle to meet the ever demanding requirements of hire industry. With operator safety in mind, Pickerings Plant have incorporated into the vehicle bed the very latest railing system to help reduce the risk of falls when loading and unloading mechanical plant. This bespoke designed railing system can be assembled and disassembled in a matter of minutes reducing vehicle down time and operator fatigue.

Pickerings Plant mobile welfare unit users and small tool hire customers will be taking delivery of their equipment from a fleet of brand new 4 x 4 vehicles. These brand new pick-up trucks have been kitted out to properly position their mobile welfare units and deliver small plant and tools onto off-road sites.

"These investments are in addition to the £2m we have committed in accommodation, plant and tools for our new depot in Kent" said Mark Chamberlain, Pickerings Plant managing director. "We are fully committed to providing our clients with quality modern equipment, delivered by an up to date transport fleet," added Mark.

Pickerings Plant Hire head office is based in Measham, Derbyshire. Since its formation in 1969, the company has grown into a leading, privately owned hire firm, specialising in the supply of plant, non-mechanical & site accommodation equipment. The company currently operates from ten depots strategically located across England.
