P and O Ferrymasters announced launch of LCL less than container load service

European logistics provider P&O Ferrymasters has announced the launch of its new LCL (Less than Container Load) service from Germany and Benelux to Ireland.

The new service, which starts today (1 April), is being run in co-operation with leading distribution specialist, The Pallet Network (TPN) who are located in Ireland.

The service will use trailers based on daily collections from Germany and Benelux, with cross-docking facilities in Europoort on to 45ft curtainside containers. Initially there will be two departures per week from Europoort to the port of Dublin, with TPN distributing directly across Ireland to the end customers. Once the service is established P&O Ferrymasters aims to increase the amount of departures per week.

The containers will depart on Tuesdays and Fridays with arrivals in Dublin on Friday and Monday mornings respectively. A Track and Trace capability and ADR option will also be available.

Rob Hogerwerf, P&O Ferrymasters' General Manager Europoort office, said: "Ever-changing market conditions and evolving customers' needs means that we are constantly and proactively devising creative supply chain solutions to meet those needs. By expanding our portfolio of services with this LCL service, we are giving customers extra flexibility whilst strengthening their supply chains and creating cost efficiencies for them. The aim is to add real value to our customers by giving them a greater competitive edge in this challenging commercial environment."
