An interactive exhibition, engaging speaker line-up and a packed house meant that specialist software provider OrderWise had reason to celebrate its first OrderWise Business Connect Expo.

The company welcomed more than 140 delegates to the event on 21st June, held for clients of the Saxilby-based eCommerce and warehouse logistics specialist at the Everyday Champions Centre in Newark.

Managing Director of OrderWise, David Hallam, said: “We couldn’t be more pleased with how our first Business Connect Expo has gone. We invited OrderWise customers to come and see for themselves how we work across multiple disciplines, and listen to useful and thought-provoking content from key industry-specific speakers as well as members of our own Senior Management. I really think we pulled it off. We achieved the ‘wow’ factor for sure.”

Delegates were able to hear from seven speakers and benefited from a Q&A session at the close of the day with department heads from across the company.

Those in attendance also had the chance to catch up with some of the company’s clients who were also exhibiting. Among them were A Perry, a metalwork component specialist, and Merida Bikes, an engineered bike and cycle expert.

OrderWise was also showcasing one of its warehouse robots, a technology that the company is researching and hopes to have as part of its offering shortly. The significant pick rate that can be achieved in warehouses was one of the key benefits being extolled.

Among the speeches was a keynote talk from OrderWise Sales Manager Jon Roberts, who gave an upbeat take on the state of the high street versus online sales.

Jon said: “We are hearing a lot of tales of woe from high street brands running into trouble. However, if you start digging beyond that you actually find a majority of online sales are still being made by traditional brands who have their origins in bricks and mortar. Knowing your customers and what they want is key – I hope I communicated that fact to the delegates in attendance.”

Richard Hill, Director of SEO TrafficLab, also spoke at the event, giving his take on the current state of Google Shopping.

He said: “It’s been fantastic to be part of such a well organised and well attended day. The quality of the speakers has been great and we’ve had plenty of delegates coming to chat over their issues with us on our stand. OrderWise know their customers better than most and to give them the opportunity to dig deeper into how they can improve their operations has been beneficial for everyone here.”
