NYK Logistics (UK) has presented two top students from the University of Huddersfield with major logistics awards. Nga Yu Shing (30), from Huddersfield, was named winner of the NYK Logistics Transport and Logistics Management Award and Hubert Virtos (24), from Paris, received the NYK Logistics European Logistics Management Award.
The presentation was held at the company's distribution complex in Tamworth, which comprises 336,000 sq ft (31,200 sq m) of warehousing space across three sites.
This was followed by a tour of the facility that houses the national distribution operation for sit-up channels, the rapidly growing web and TV home shopping channel. The operation is gearing up for its busiest time of the year.
Suzanne Mercer, Head of HR, who made the awards, said: "As a major employer in the logistics industry, NYK Logistics recognises the importance training plays in the success of an organisation.
"We are delighted to continue our support of Huddersfield's leading logistics courses and congratulate both Nga Yu and Hubert on their achievements. We wish them every success in their chosen careers."
Also attending the presentation was Dr Nick Hubbard, Head of Transport and Logistics at Huddersfield.
He said: "I'd like to thank NYK Logistics for its support of the awards and the tour of the Tamworth operation, which provided an excellent insight into the complexities of a cutting edge logistics service."
