NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP WEEK 2016 IS FAST APPROACHING

The ninth annual National Apprenticeship Week will launch on Monday 14 March.

The week, which is led and co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service, will take place from 14 - 18 March 2016 with hundreds of events and activities planned across England.

Key moments in the week include:

  • Monday 14: New research-led national news story examining the impact of apprenticeships on business growth and expansion, retention and promotion of apprentices and more
  • Monday 14, 8.00am – 11.00am: An employer event hosted at the Shard, with speeches from key apprentice employers; Starbucks and Addleshaw Goddard, an apprentice from BT, and new announcements and pledges to take an apprentices from Starbucks, Prezzo, Fortnum and Mason, Deloitte, Goldman Sachs and Greene King
  • Tuesday 15, 6.30pm – 9:30pm: A prestigious event at the Bond in Motion exhibition hosted by the London Film Museum discussing the topical and current issues facing the digital, creative and tech sectors such as cyber-security, as well as qualifications and pathways to talent development for the sector. Speakers include leading industry figures such as Hugh Milward, Director of Corporate Affairs, Microsoft and a current Channel 4 apprentice
  • In addition to these events a huge range of organisations and individuals, including employers, apprentices, business support and sector organisations, learning providers, colleges and schools will support the week by hosting activities. The week will celebrate apprenticeships and traineeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy. The overarching theme for the week is ‘Rise to the top’ focusing on progression and opportunity as a way to showcase the rich and diverse apprenticeship offer, from traineeships right through to higher and degree apprenticeships.

The Skills Funding Agency will be able to provide apprentice and employer case studies, key facts and figures and arrange for interviews with apprentice employers and relevant spokespeople. National Apprenticeship Service spokespeople are also available for media interviews.
