Mercedes-Benz Sprinter answers Dawsonrentals’ ‘role call’

Leading rental, hire and leasing specialist Dawsonrentals bus and coach chose the opening day (30th September) of the passenger carrying vehicle industry’s premier showcase event to announce a string of orders for new Mercedes-Benz Sprinters.

Dawsonrentals is a high-profile customer of Mercedes-Benz UK and these latest deals, confirmed at Coach & Bus Live at the Birmingham NEC, are further evidence of the successful partnership between the two companies.

Fast-growing Dawsonrentals bus and coach is adding another 70 Sprinters, all 5.0-tonne gvw models, to its rental fleet of more than 2,000 vehicles.

Included are a further 10, factory-built Sprinter Traveliner 513 CDI minbuses with 17 seats – Dawsonrentals has commissioned several batches of the same model already this year – and 10 516 CDI panel vans, which will be transformed into luxury coaches by Irish converter EVM. Most of the new vehicles, though, are Sprinter 513 CDI chassis cabs, which will be fitted with wheelchair-accessible bodies by Treka Bus, of Brighouse, West Yorkshire.

Dawsonrentals’ orders underline the Sprinter’s flexibility and the suitability of its base chassis for modification for a variety of fleet applications. This attribute was recognised by the judges of the Commercial Fleet Awards last week, when the Sprinter took the Best Van Chassis Derivative prize, along with the most coveted Commercial Vehicle of the Year title and the trophy for Best Large Panel Van.

Dawsonrentals bus and coach offers a comprehensive portfolio of short- and long-term rental packages, as well as outright acquisition, covering new and used service, school and double-decked buses, standard and executive coaches, and accessible vehicles.

Managing Director Paul Sainthouse said: “We’ve been running Mercedes-Benz Sprinters for some time now, but they’ve played an increasingly important role over recent years as our business focus has shifted and we’ve expanded the fleet to include more van-based vehicles and minbuses.

“The Sprinter is reliable, comfortable and highly cost-effective to operate, as well as offering the prestige of the three-pointed star. All of which explains why it’s so popular with our customers and why we’re very happy to be confirming this latest round of orders today.”

Mr Sainthouse continued: “Dawsonrentals and Mercedes-Benz have a very positive relationship. The manufacturer understands and meets the needs of our business and provides us with a wide range of premium quality products.”

Mercedes-Benz Vans Head of Strategic Accounts Andrew Lawson added: “Dawsonrentals is one of the biggest names in the vehicle rental and leasing industry. We’re delighted in this, the year in which we’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Sprinter’s launch, to have won this latest round of prestigious orders from a highly valued customer.”
