McCann Logistics has renewed its UK fleet with 12 new Renault Trucks T High tractor units, marking the first time the operator has added the Renault Trucks brand to its business.

The Immingham-based logistics firm has taken delivery of 12 Renault Trucks T High 480 6x2 units, with two of the vehicles carrying ANDYSMANCLUB’s “It’s okay to talk” message to raise awareness of men’s mental health.

The move follows a competitive tender process, during which Renault Trucks and dealer Thompson Commercials were selected for their driver-focused specification and whole-life cost proposition.

Mark Brighton, general manager at McCann Logistics, said the process stood out from the outset.

“From day one, Thompson Commercials listened,” he said. “Both Renault Trucks and Thompsons worked with us, offered sensible numbers, and delivered everything we asked for – from driver comfort features to a maintenance programme we could trust.”

He added: “We’ve not been able to fault the process.”

The new vehicles are supplied on a five-year contract through Renault Trucks Financial Services and are powered by Renault Trucks’ DE13 Turbo Compound 480hp engine, designed to improve fuel efficiency by recovering energy from exhaust gases.

Further technologies, including Optivision map-based gear shifting and Smart Torque Control, are aimed at reducing fuel consumption and delivering more predictable running costs.

Configured for long-distance haulage, the trucks have been specified to McCann’s requirements, with features including rear interior cab lockers, microwaves and inverters to improve driver comfort.

McCann drivers were involved throughout the specification process and trialled a demonstrator vehicle before the order was finalised, with positive feedback on fuel performance, manoeuvrability, cab space and comfort influencing the decision.

Founded more than 40 years ago, McCann Logistics has grown into a major UK and European operator, moving goods through ports including Immingham and Purfleet, with core markets in Belgium, Holland and Germany.

The business supports a wide range of construction and industrial customers, transporting materials such as bricks, roofing tiles and solar panels, alongside third-party freight including steel, chemicals and general cargo.

Operating exclusively across the UK, each of the new Renault trucks is expected to cover around 1,400 miles per week, serving destinations from Aberdeen to Taunton, including construction sites, farms, industrial facilities and distribution hubs.

Alongside the fleet renewal, McCann is extending its long-standing support for ANDYSMANCLUB, with two of the new trucks joining existing trailers already carrying the charity’s branding.

The partnership began following a local Armed Forces Day event and reflects the company’s commitment to supporting mental health in male-dominated industries.

One of the new vehicles will carry a tribute to Sean Dawson, the son of a McCann driver who died by suicide, with his family’s permission.

“It’s a small gesture, but it means a great deal to our driver and his family,” Mr Brighton said.

“Supporting AMC is incredibly important to us, especially given the male-dominated sectors we deliver into. If even one man decides to attend a Monday night support group because they saw one of our vehicles, then it’s worth everything.”

Sean Gill, regional lead for the East of England at ANDYSMANCLUB, said the partnership would help take the charity’s message into communities that might otherwise be hard to reach.

“Seeing our branding carried on their trucks and trailers isn’t just advertising, it’s awareness in motion,” he said.

The vehicles will be maintained by Thompson Commercials’ Grimsby depot, with ongoing driver familiarisation and support included as part of the agreement.

Keith Ottley, sales projects manager at Thompson Commercials, said the dealer was proud to support McCann’s first move to the Renault Trucks brand.

“We are delighted that McCann Logistics has chosen Renault Trucks for the first time in its history,” he said, adding that the T High was well suited to McCann’s long-distance UK operations.
