As the recent cold snap has left the UK's transport network in chaos, Leeds based logistics company, Bedfords, refused to allow the weather to affect its schedule!
Bedfords is contracted, through Associated Newspapers to deliver The Daily Mail to into wholesalers, ready for delivery into individual newsagents. Bedfords successfully delivered into every wholesaler each day without fail. That's over 600 daily deliveries through the worst of the weather!
Whilst some rival newspapers were not hitting the wholesalers until 11am and some not arriving at all - Bedfords drivers were at home and in bed!
Colin Duke of The Daily Mail said: "In short, our haulier and their partners have performed minor miracles in reaching their destinations without fuss or complaint. Our wholesale distributors have had to undertake 3133 reruns for other publisher Thursday 17th to Tuesday 22nd December and NIL for Associated Newspapers."
Commercial Director at Bedfords, Philip Lockwood commented: "We've been in the logistics business for over eighty years so whilst adverse weather does present challenges, today's modern technology and state-of-the-art vehicles mean that it's much easier to get through than it once was. Bedfords continues to thrive on delivering a safe and reliable service to all clients, whatever the weather!"
