Three years after the successful introduction of the first 8 Isuzu 7.5t trucks to operate in the fleet at leading road reinstatement company Stanmore Quality Surfacing Ltd (SQS Ltd), the North London company has now taken delivery of a further 15. The Isuzu N75.190 7.5t rigid tipper trucks are to operate on recently gained contracts for first time reinstatement work on behalf of various utility companies.
According to SQS's transport manager Geoff Stamp, "The Isuzu rigids have become very popular with us as they suit the typical workload required within these reinstatement contracts. The Isuzu chassis has a slightly lower ride height than other trucks and this eases the loading and unloading of machines, concrete slabs, kerbs and brickwork on site. The overall vehicle footprint is also a benefit as it allows us to operate these vehicles in locations where access can be restrictive."
Isuzu truck dealer MC Truck & Bus Ltd in Maidstone has supplied the 15 Isuzu 7.5 tonners to SQS and all feature Isuzu's popular Easyshift transmission as standard. Each truck has a Thompson tipper body that has been fitted with a nearside, ram-operated side lift. Prior to purchasing the new Isuzu Forward 7.5t trucks, SQS supplemented its fleet with short-term rental of Isuzu's from the MC Truck and Bus hire fleet. The popularity of the vehicles with the SQS drivers, together with the impressive payload, was an additional influence on the final decision by SQS to specify Isuzu for their latest vehicle order.
12 of the new Isuzu's are based at Essendon near Hatfield working on a water repair and maintenance reinstatement contract on behalf of Veolia Water UK. The remaining three vehicles are currently on another reinstatement contract, this time handling gas repair reinstatement work for Skanska UK in North London.
Stanmore Quality Surfacing Ltd is a privately owned company providing high-quality reinstatement/highways maintenance service to major contractors. With an operating fleet of 94 vehicles, the new Isuzu's are significant in reinstating excavations for various utilities, including 'back-filling', service reinstatement and the clearing of sites.
"The construction and utilities sectors have been key markets for Isuzu for many years, with Isuzu Forward 7.5 tonners becoming an everyday sight on our roads. Their productivity has become legendary making them one of the most productive 7.5 tonners currently available. The nature of the work that these new SQS trucks are undertaking ideally suits the N75.190. These trucks will provide SQS efficient and effective tippers for years to come," said Keith Child, Marketing Director, Isuzu Truck (UK) Limited.
