Leading belting manufacturer Habasit Rossi Ltd has stepped in to ensure that the intense filming schedule of Sky One's new 'Gladiator' series got underway on time by delivering on its outstanding 24:7 service promise. With only hours to go before filming was due to start, the famous 'travelator' challenge was trialled and the producers deemed them too slippery and dangerous for contenders now that a water feature had been added.
Autovation, the company who provided the 'travelators' for the show, is a long-standing Habasit Rossi customer and had the original flat top belting installed onto the 'travelators' at one of Habasit Rossi's service centres in the north.
Once the problem was discovered a specialist team of engineers from Habasit Rossi, was called in to replace the original belting with two high friction modular HabasitLINK® GripTop belts with less than 12 hours to go before filming started.
The GripTop replacement, which was installed overnight, has an extremely robust design with high strength. This is ideal for extensive use and meets the requirements for the 'travelators' gruelling steep inclines.
Made of thermoplastic elastomer, the GripTop range is durable, reliable and built to withstand high levels of wear and tear. They are able to meet the demands of today's tough manufacturing environments where belts are often required to run for 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
The high friction GripTop modular belt is not just ideal for its 'Gladiators' role but is also suitable for distribution centres, airports, general conveyor systems, packaging end-lines and checkouts.
Habasit Rossi's southern operations manager Steve Archibald commented: "This exciting million pound television programme has benefited from Habasit Rossi's unfailing 24:7 service promise. The company was able to install the ideal solution for the 'Gladiators' challenges within a matter of hours." He concluded: "This project has highlighted the importance of having our service engineers located all over the country. Our 24:7 service promise is definitely a key part of our success as a company. Seeing our belting featured on such a high profile programme has been extremely exciting for Habasit Rossi."
