Glenside Commercials organises its own dedicated commercial vehicle roadshow

Croydon-based took a fresh approach to industry exhibitions this week by organising its own dedicated commercial vehicle roadshow. The event was held over two days at New Covent Garden Market in London and saw the dealership team up with Carrier Transicold and Isuzu Truck, as well as bodybuilder Lamberet.

The roadshow took place between 3 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sept. 2-3, targeting the 2,800 employees who work around the market, together with the many customers who visit each morning, including restaurateurs, florists and local retailers - the majority of which run their own commercial vehicles.

Gerald Morgan, Business Development Manager at Glenside Commercials, said: "We already supply and maintain vehicles for a number of the companies based within New Covent Garden Market, so taking our roadshow along seemed like a natural step forward.

"In this industry it's all about making life easier for customers, and if that means setting out your stall at 3 a.m., then so be it! We captured many enquiries, particularly from traders who liked the fact we offered a one-stop-shop for vehicle and temperature controlled equipment sales and service," Morgan added.

Amber Griffiths, Sales Manager at Carrier Transicold, agreed, commenting: "During the early hours of the morning there is a huge concentration of temperature controlled vehicles on-site transporting everything from fruit and vegetables to flowers, chocolate, ice and much more. We spoke directly to many fleet users we haven't previously had contact with, and we'll be proactively looking at similar initiatives for the future."

The roadshow encompassed four primary display vehicles, supported by a hospitality trailer. These included the following:

Isuzu N35.150 refrigerated box van with a Carrier Transicold Xarios® 350 system

Isuzu N75.190 refrigerated box with a Carrier Transicold Xarios 350 system

Isuzu F11.210 refrigerated box van with a Carrier Transicold Xarios 600 system

Isuzu N35.190 curtainside

Glenside Commercials is a service partner for Carrier Transicold and trades under the name of Carrier Transicold Southern, with four service centres located in Croydon, Portsmouth, Avonmouth and Caerphilly. It is also an appointed agent for Isuzu Truck.

New Covent Garden Market is a wholesale fruit, vegetable and flower market, known as "London's Larder," and is located in Nine Elms between Vauxhall and Battersea. The Market covers 56 acres (227,000 square metres) and contains approximately 250 fruit, vegetable and flower companies. The Market opened in 1974 and is so called because it transferred directly from its previous location at Covent Garden in central London.
