FTA keeps infrastructure investment firmly on agenda at Stormont

Earlier today the Freight Transport Association met with Danny Kennedy MLA, the Minister for Regional Development in the Northern Ireland Executive. The leading trade body took the opportunity to impress on Mr Kennedy the importance of investing in road and port infrastructure to support Northern Ireland's export-heavy economy.

Tom Wilson, FTA's Head of Policy for Northern Ireland, said:

"It was important for FTA to meet with Mr Kennedy who has ultimate responsibility for where investment in transport infrastructure goes and from our meeting we certainly had many areas of accord over the financing of future developments. Of course, with tightly constrained budgets, the case for any kind of investment has to be sensible, very well put together and with demonstrable returns on that investment.

"We look forward to developing our dialogue with Mr Kennedy and his department in the coming months to ensure that freight's needs are at the fore of any such investment."
