When George Triov ET, based in Sofia, Bulgaria, decided to expand its range of medicinal products to include herbal teas, it chose an Evo-fold wrapper from Marden Edwards to give its packaging a high quality finish.
It is the first automatic wrapper the Bulgarian company has purchased and it will be used in its recently built production facility to wrap its cartons of herbal teas bags launched to complement its range of medicinal plants, seeds and berries.
Managing director George Triov explains, "The tea project is currently aimed at the domestic Bulgarian market, although we have ambitions to sell to other EU countries.
Our strategy is to pack our premium quality, all natural ingredients into very attractive packs to differentiate it from other products in the market, while maintaining a competitive price."
The machine has been designed as an entry level, fully automatic over wrapping machine for medium speed applications. Typical uses include wrapping cartons of tea, confectionery, cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. It competes directly with automatic shrink wrapping machines for price and has the extra benefits of reduced energy consumption, the use of low cost films and a high quality wrap and seal.
Thanks to advances in component manufacturing technology the Evo-fold wrapper has a higher specification than many more expensive machines on offer, according to ME. While it is the company's 'entry level' machine it can perform to levels seen previously only on more sophisticated equipment.
Currently Triov is wrapping 30 cartons/minute with dimensions of 120mm long x 48mm wide x 60mm high. The machine has the capacity to increase speed as demand for the teabags grows.
Triov's products are exported to markets in Europe, the Americas and Asia as well as for domestic consumption.
George Triov said, "The machine is easy to operate and maintain and the quality of the overwrap is excellent. Our operators got used to it very quickly and work is going very smoothly."
