Enterprise Flex-E-Rent, the specialist commercial vehicle rental division of the world’s largest vehicle hire company, has created two bespoke transporters for the company’s Exotic Car Collection in the UK. This will ensure the safe delivery of some of the world’s most desirable rental vehicles to any location in the country.
The two DAF 55 LF180 transporters each have an overall length of 10 metres and are 2.26 metres wide. Enterprise Flex-E-Rent specified these vehicles for this unique challenge because of their width, which is suitable for the special design of many sports cars, and because the tilt and slide design of the body enables the whole of the deck area to slide off the back of the chassis and sit almost level with the ground.
This makes loading easier as the load bed is virtually on the ground and lessens or negates the angle of approach for the driver to negotiate when loading or unloading a luxury car. It therefore facilitates the low ground clearance of many of the prestige and sports cars being transported, which include marques such as Rolls-Royce, Maserati, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, Range Rover and Bentley.
The two trucks are DAF 55 LF180 rigid Euro VI single deck covered transporters, each specified with a day cab and fitted with a Dyson Hydraloader SLA 5000 body. They have a GVW of 12,000 kg and a load capacity of five tonnes.
Danny Glynn, managing director of Enterprise Flex-E-Rent, said: “Enterprise Flex-E-Rent and our Exotic Car Collection are working together to deliver the perfect service. It is one of the customer benefits of the breadth of our offering.”
“The vehicles in our Exotic Car Collection can’t just be driven away from a branch like a normal hire car. Customers rightly expect an exceptional ‘white glove’ experience and for the cars to be treated like the masterpieces they are. That’s why we’ve created specialist transporters that are masterpieces in their own right.”
“Transporting luxury and high performance sports vehicles is a specialised operation. The transporters had to be covered units and also needed to accommodate the extra width to allow for the varying dimensions of the cars in our Exotic Car Collection. We had to make sure we could fit the complete range through the opening on the roller door.”
Customers can rent Enterprise’s exclusive collection of high-end vehicles from a specialist Enterprise branch at Heathrow Airport for delivery anywhere in the UK via this bespoke transportation service. In the last six months, Enterprise has also opened six new Exotic Car Collection branches in the US and its first locations in Canada and Switzerland.
The service was born from Enterprise’s experience in the insurance sector, providing replacement luxury cars to owners whose own luxury vehicles are being repaired. Now Enterprise is also specifically targeting rental to individuals who want to travel in style, as well as people who want to enjoy an exciting, novel and exclusive driving experience with an eye-catching rental car.
Danny Glynn added: “Our Exotic Car Collection has been a major hit in the United States and we’re seeing a similar level of demand both in London and throughout the UK for prestige and supercar rental. These transporters help turn the dream of driving a high-end supercar into a reality, anywhere in the UK.”
