DSV Road's Manchester office in Wythenshawe has become the second UK facility in the company to gain SQAS certification.
The main office at Purfleet was certified earlier this year and Bristol is the next DSV site due for the assessment which covers best practice in the handling of chemicals and dangerous goods.
Denise Clarke, Head of Region North, says: "With the North West being a prominent area for hazardous cargo, gaining SQAS accreditation was important to DSV Wythenshawe. The assessment is very thorough and our current processes were compliant with the SQAS standard and therefore we were very satisfied with our overall score."
DSV's Safety, Health, Environmental Quality Officer Pez Hargreaves says the process of seeking certification helps the company focus on the management and handling of the chemicals, as well as sharpening up safety and emergency procedures.
"We found that we already had many of the correct processes and structures in place, but it was very useful to undertake the SQAS process," he adds. "Also, we learnt from the Purfleet process, so that makes it a smoother process each time we prepare for the assessment."
DSV is a global supplier of transport and logistics solutions. In the UK it offers an extensive range of services under the brands DSV Road, DSV Air & Sea and DSV Solutions employing more than 1,500 people over 52 locations.
