DSV Solutions partners with Hologic UK

DSV Solutions Limited and leading medical equipment manufacturer Hologic have formed a new supply chain partnership covering the UK and Ireland.

DSV Solutions will provide Hologic with bespoke temperature-controlled warehousing, packing and loading, receipt and put-away, order pick & pack and dispatching, returns management and stock control from its 115,000sq ft facility in Milton Keynes.

In total, DSV Solutions will handle approximately 8,000 outbound consignments each year for distribution to Hologic's customers throughout the UK and Ireland.

To meet Hologic's specialist requirements, DSV Solutions has developed a new temperature controlled storage area at its Milton Keynes facility.

Kris De Backer, Director Logistics & Administration for Hologic's European region, said: "The advanced medical equipment, parts and disposables we have developed require specialist warehousing and handling solutions.

"Our goal is to increase Customer Satisfaction, in other words, our Customer Service will focus more on Customer Order Fulfilment and Inventory Management.

"Hologic and DSV Solutions work together elsewhere in Europe and we were confident that the specialist knowledge that DSV has already developed for handling our delicate products can be re-created in the UK. The UK is a very important market for Hologic in Europe.

Peter Nielsen, Managing Director of DSV Solutions, said: "Hologic needs logistics providers that understand that they are not simply moving boxes - they are handling delicate medical equipment requiring specialist knowledge.

"We have created a bespoke solution for Hologic to ensure that its products are correctly handled and our Warehouse Management System will ensure a smooth and reliable distribution operation."

The partnership between DSV Solutions and Hologic will be rolled out in three stages. In December, DSV will begin handling Diagnostic Products which need to be stored between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius.

Then in January, Hologic's Cervista molecular solution, which requires specialist handling and storage at lower than -4 degrees Celsius, will be processed through Milton Keynes.

Finally, in March, all other product handling and spare parts distribution will be transferred to DSV Solutions.
