Danish lifter-company to reach 15 million in 2017

Direct access to the German market and global cooperation with a strong competitor will ensure Danish lifter specialist Hovmand A/S a turnover of 15 million Euros in 2017.

Hovmand A/S, a Denmark based leading manufacturer of electric lifters, has taken two major steps to secure the company’s future growth and earnings: a global strategic partnership with the Swedish competitor EdmoLift AB and an unconventional venture onto the German market.

"We are dead set on keeping our leading position in electric lifters. And we are dead set on securing profitable growth, "said Søren Hovmand, owner and managing director of Hovmand A/S.

The goal is to increase the company’s revenue from today's 5.5 million Euros to 15 million Euros in 2017.

Electric lifters are used in a variety of industries, including the packaging, pharmaceutical and automotive industries. The collaboration with EdmoLift, a world leader in scissor tables and pallet handling, is to secure Hovmand’s lifters global access.

"The collaboration has great potential for Hovmand, for example by placing us on the US market. Another important stepping stone is the German market. We have been here for many years, but have not been focused enough to exploit the huge potential, "says Søren Hovmand.

To bring the company closer to its German customers, Hovmand has expanded its operations with a subsidiary in Munich. And Søren Hovmand has relocated to southern Germany to lead the company's expansion.

"You will not find a larger concentration of lifter core industries than here. But it is essential that we are 100 percent present in order to pull through and I have dedicated myself to this task," says Søren Hovmand who as a consequence has delegated part of the management of the company in Denmark to COO Bo Puggard Hansen.

"We can do it, partly because we have prepared properly, partly due to a strong team in Denmark," says Søren Hovmand.

In preparation for the expansion, Hovmand has employed LEAN in the company’s production, restructured of its marketing efforts and upgraded its development capabilities in collaboration with among others DTU (Denmark’s Technical University).
