DAF’s XF Electric truck has been named ‘2026 Eco-Friendly Truck of the Year’, adding another major accolade to the manufacturer’s growing electric vehicle range.

The award was given by a Spanish jury as part of the long-running National Transport Awards programme, established in 1988 by industry magazines Transporte 3 and Viajeros.

It follows the model’s recent success in being crowned ‘International Truck of the Year 2026’, marking further recognition for DAF’s class-leading electric trucks.

Judges, made up of executives from more than 100 transport companies alongside specialists in alternative energy, praised the XF Electric for its advanced technology, strong sustainability focus and overall performance.

Key criteria included innovation, efficiency, environmental impact and user-friendliness.

The DAF XF Electric is powered by PACCAR EX-D1 and EX-D2 electric motors, offering outputs ranging from 170 kW (230 hp) to 350 kW (480 hp).

Depending on configuration, the truck delivers a zero-emission range of more than 500 kilometres.

One of the factors highlighted by the jury was the use of latest-generation lithium-iron-phosphate batteries, which are free of cobalt and nickel and designed for an exceptionally long service life.

DAF said the batteries can be routinely charged to 100% without affecting durability.

The jury commented: “The DAF XF Electric demonstrates that care for environment can be perfectly combined with operational efficiency and outstanding driver comfort.”

It added that the driveline and vehicle concept form “a perfect combination”, particularly for regional and national distribution work.

Bart Bosmans, member of the DAF Board of Management responsible for marketing and sales, said: “Being awarded ‘Eco-Friendly Truck of the Year’ is another wonderful recognition of the qualities of our New Generation DAF Electric trucks.”

He said the company also provides “a complete package of services” to support operators investing in electric logistics, from driver training and route planning to charging stations, energy storage systems and fleet management support through PACCAR Connect.

“This combination of products and services makes DAF the ideal partner in the energy transition,” he added.
