Lifting more prizes
Crown WF 3000 and TSP 6000 Series receive international design awards
Two of Crown's flagship trucks - the WF 3000 Series pedestrian stacker and TSP 6000 Series turret order picker, have been awarded prizes in Europe and the USA for outstanding design.
The WF 3000 Series of pedestrian stacker trucks, produced in Germany, received the pan-European iF Design Award 2006.
Meanwhile the recently introduced TSP 6000 Series turret order picker has lost no time in also winning an international design prize. At the Industrial Design Excellence Awards 2006, held in the USA by the Industrial Designers Society of America, cosponsored by Business Week magazine, it won the "Silver IDEA". This year only 65 products earned a gold or silver IDEA from the nearly 1,500 entries.
Coveted design label
Nearly two thousand candidates from thirty seven countries applied for the coveted iF certificate at the International Forum Design in Hanover. The iF Design Award has been given every year since 1954 and is one of the most prestigious prizes in the area of design. The famous international designers who sit on the panel do not merely pick a winner - they also put their own reputation on the line and defend the special position of iF and the iF label.
'Less marketing, more design' was the challenge issued by the panel of experts. This year the international panel was treated to products with a clear and simple design offering intuitive operation and pointing the way to a user-friendly method of
working. Above all the panel was looking for products that could be used by young and old alike. The 'universal design' concept will be a key factor in future iF product design awards.
Award-winning design by Crown
In the past, Crown trucks have been frequent winners of the iF design and the red dot
awards, not to mention a whole host of other major European and American design prizes.
Crown's WF 3000 stacker Series is available has been designed for a wide range of applications in retail, distribution centres and warehouses. Besides the standard features you expect from Crown such as innovative design and robustness, the stackers offer a short turning radius, compact power unit and a centre-mounted tiller with brake override providing the best manoeuvrability in the industry. Robustness has been a key design strategy for the WF 3000 Series - that is why Crown includes a lifetime warranty for the chassis.
The TSP 6000 Series turret order picker Series sets new standards in terms of operator efficiency, providing maximum uptime. One of the most important features is the Crown designed MoveControlTM seat which can rotate 110°, allowing the operator to find the ideal position for the task in hand at the press of a button. The operator controls are integrated into, and hence, move with the seat.
The TSP 6000's three point suspension guarantees a short turning radius and the highly versatile design allows it to perform a range of warehouse tasks – from order-picking and transporting through to staging. All these features, together with Crown's reputation for building highly durable trucks, provide the customer with a product which has extremely low life cycle costs and maximum operational benefit.
The tough, durable construction of the TSP 6000 Series is proven through extensive testing, such as Crown`s Mechanical Testing System which simulates static and dynamic loads comparable to 60.000 hours of the most severe conditions.
Both the WF 3000 and the TSP 6000 Series are classic examples of Crown's basic philosophy – producing the safest, most efficient and ergonomic truck will increase operator comfort and efficiency and therefore lower the overall cost of ownership. The latest awards are independent recognition of Crown's continuing excellence in the materials handling field.
