Fleet management, contract hire and rental specialist, Fraikin Ltd has appointed Peter Backhouse as Chief Executive Officer.
Backhouse, 45, brings considerable industry experience to the role having spent 11 years in senior positions with Ryder between 1997 and 2008, including seven years as Vice President and Managing Director of Ryder's European business. In his most recent role he was Managing Director of Bunzl Healthcare Ltd, a subsidiary of Bunzl plc.
Commenting on the appointment, Laurent Bonnaure, Executive Vice President International at Fraikin Group explains: "Peter's wealth of industry knowledge and expertise makes him ideally suited to lead Fraikin Ltd. The UK is a major region for the Group and one in which we are targeting continued strong growth."

The appointment sees Backhouse replace Bonnaure, who took on the additional role of Interim Managing Director of Fraikin Ltd in October 2009. This followed a nine year period in which John Ball led the company, transforming it from a fleet of 1,600 vehicles to the 15,000 vans and trucks it manages today.
