Chartered Institute of Building CIOB announce sponsorship of the Total Professions website

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has announced today its sponsorship of the TotalProfessions.com website.

The site which is launched by the Professional Associations Research Network (PARN) and Ashridge Communications aims to help the connection between Professional Bodies and young people; by encouraging and inspiring their career choices and giving practical advice when they are making academic decisions.

Michael Brown CIOB Deputy Chief Executive said, "We have been working closely with the Government's Panel on Fair Access to the Professions to improve the links between professional jobs and young people from a variety of backgrounds.

It is clear that many professions are not as accessible as they could be. But by working together with other professional bodies, employers, academia and government we hope to reverse that trend. Which is why we are delighted to be the main sponsor of all built environment related content on the Total Professions website.

"This site has been developed in collaboration with many other Professional Bodies to represent the full spectrum of professionalism across all industries. Our aim is to give young people greater opportunity to find out more about having a career in construction, and the benefits of a professional qualification."

Duncan Grant, Director, Ashridge Communications added, "Professionals make a significant contribution to the UK economy which is often not recognised. Through TotalProfessions.com Professional Bodies are working collaboratively for the first time to raise the profile of professions in the UK and encourage fair access."

TotalProfessionals.com is also actively being considered as part of the boosting information, advice and guidance by the 'The Gateways to the Professions Collaborative Forum' involving a wide range of Professional Bodies (including the CIOB) and Government. The Forum is currently jointly addressing the challenges put forward by Alan Milburn MPs report of the Panel on Fair Access to the Professions. The Forum is due to report at the end of 2010.
