Indeed, they recently commissioned a review of their footprint to compare it to other leading logistics providers. This was carried out by Heriot-Watt University and initial indications were that ByBox' carbon emissions are significantly lower than the industry benchmark.
Mark Garritt, Managing Director of ByBox is one of the main driving forces behind ByBox' 'green' agenda and said that with daily deliveries to a network of 18,000 drop boxes in 1,350 locations across the UK, the firm was always looking at new ways to become more environmentally friendly.
He said: "At ByBox we pride ourselves in leading the 'Green Revolution'. Our deliveries take place through the night up until 8am, so traffic density is low and in effect vehicle efficiency is high. Also, using our Thinventory stock management system the number of inefficient same-day deliveries are being reduced. We are constantly looking for ways to become even more 'green' and are proud to have one of the lowest carbon footprints of companies in our field".
This drive to become more environmentally friendly is ongoing and ByBox is constantly looking for new ways to improve. They have a stock management system which is 100% paperless and have changed their electronic drop-boxes to hibernate when not in use which is a huge energy saver.
These are just some of the initiatives which have led to ByBox becoming one of the fastest growing technology companies in the UK with a turnover of £119,000 in 2002 to a predicted £37 million in 2010. Making over 20 million deliveries a year, this green giant is also a successful giant with a uniqueness and passion which makes them the distribution sectors BFG.
