ByBox, the leading in-night parts and equipment distributor, who are normally accustomed to white vans, were involved in driving of a different sort recently with The Historic Sports Car Club (HSCC) ByBox Historic Raceday. The HSCC is the premier organiser of historic racing in the UK, it was formed in 1966 by a small group of enthusiasts who frustrated by a lack of races for older sports cars, created the Club to help competitors enjoy themselves racing 'nice proper cars' on interesting circuits.
The ByBox Race day took place on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit and was a great event featuring some of the most beautiful and iconic cars in the history of motoring, categories included 70s Roadsports, Classic Formula 3, Formula Ford 2000 and GT cars. ByBox sponsor the HSCC Historic Touring Car Championship and their Managing Director and motoring enthusiast Mark Garritt is a frequent visitor to the events. He said of the day: "The event saw some fantastic close racing with some amazing cars on show".
"Like many of the competitors, my love of Historic Car racing goes back to my childhood. Both of my parents competed and I spent many a day, and often night, sat in the mountains listening to the roar of engines, the screeching of tyres and smelling the scent of Castrol R. "Being a 60's child, my favourite cars were the Alfas, Lancias and the early MK1 Escorts, so it was great to see some of these amazing vehicles in action".
"I was absolutely thrilled when seven years ago I managed to buy my first race car, the Alfa I have today. On behalf of ByBox, I would like to say a huge thank you to the drivers, the wonderful spectators and the HSCC for providing the opportunity for ByBox to sponsor this great event".
