An ambitious M&E consultancy has positioned itself to continue growing in 2010 by buying an established project management consultancy.
Building Services Design (BSD) has acquired Apex Project Consultants based in Chelmsford for an undisclosed sum.
The firm will retain its existing staff and management, and will be renamed BSD Apex immediately.
BSD Apex specialises in CDM-coordination, quantity surveying and project management.
It has an impressive client list featuring big names such as Debenhams, the BBC, Greene King, Pizza Hut and Yorkshire Bank.
"BSD Apex has a very impressive list of clients and a number of talented people on the team," said David White, the managing director of purchasing company BSD.
"By coming together, BSD and BSD Apex will be able to offer a large number of building services to an enlarged client base.
"We're very confident the impressive growth of BSD will continue next year thanks to this acquisition."
The existing Apex managing director Mark Freeman is staying at the top of the firm, joined by new joint MD Stuart Featherstone, an existing BSD director.
BSD was formed in 1991, and has grown rapidly to become one of the UK's top 50 mechanical and electrical design consultancies.
It works across all sectors of the construction industry and now employs in excess of 80 people at six different locations around the UK.
The company also provides sustainable energy solutions as Registered Low Carbon Consultants, and is able to offer Energy Performance Certificates and Display Energy Certificates, as well as being BREEAM Assessors
Clients include Sainsbury's, English Heritage, Procure 21, National Trust, Building Schools for the Future and the University of Cambridge.
Earlier this year, BSD was named on the Sunday Times Best 100 Companies To Work For list
