BMW awards spare parts distribution centre management to Kuehne and Nagel

Kuehne + Nagel has been awarded by BMW the management of their spare parts distribution centre for servicing the Japanese aftermarket.


Under a three-year contract, Kuehne + Nagel will provide services likereceiving, inventory control, picking & packing, handling of dangerous

goods and value-added services, such as key coding and key cutting,for BMW automotive spare parts.


The 18,000 sqm facility is owned by BMW and holds over 50,000 stockkeeping

units. After the current implementation and transition phase, Kuehne + Nagel will cooperate with the customer on a continuousimprovement of the car manufacturer's supply chain processes, introducing new tools such as pick-by-voice systems and the Kuehne +Nagel Production System.


This important new business is an extension of the long-standingpartnership with BMW, for which Kuehne + Nagel provides services from inbound to production and aftermarket logistics as well as reverse logisticsin five countries at ten different locations.
