The handling of large, non-palletised goods such as brown and white goods will be easier and safer following the launch of a new Carton Clamp from B&B Attachments, the UK's leading supplier of masts and forklift truck attachments. Manufactured by Kaup, Europe's foremost producer of forklift attachments, the new Kaup T414 –1 incorporates aluminium contact pads and specially developed arm connections on the guide profiles to improve the residual capacity of the forklift truck.
The introduction of these innovations has enabled Kaup to reduce the mass weight of the Carton Clamp by 80 kg, compared to previous models, coupled with improvements on centre of gravity and lost load thickness ensures maximum residual is obtained from the fork lift truck. In addition the clamp's aluminium contact pads have been designed so that they can be turned 90° and 180° respectively, this design facility will allow maximum utilisation of the contact pads before replacing .
The wear and tear bar, situated at the base of the contact pads , also has the advantage of being able to be rotated and with regular servicing checks , when worn it can be easily replaced , thus avoiding possible wear to the aluminium contact pad. In addition, the outer sides of the clamp are almost completely enclosed, which helps reduce damage warehouse racking and vehicles when loading.
The new Carton Clamp can also be supplied with sensors, which enables the clamp to automatically recognise the loading pattern and number of units to be lifted. Not only does this provide additional safety but also tells the lift truck driver exactly how deep the clamp is located on the load. This prevents incomplete gripping of units in the second row of a load and averts the risk of dropped and damage to goods and injury to personnel.
