The North East's leading animal by-product and food waste collection and disposal service provider has announced expansion plans after a successful 2011.
John Warren ABP has worked with farmers across the region for over three generations and is now seeking to establish a major presence in North Yorkshire and Lancashire.
The move into new markets comes after a successful 12 months, which saw John Warren ABP increase its client base by six per cent whilst also receiving extremely positive feedback from a survey carried out by NFSCo, the National Fallen Stock Company. The survey showed that 85 per cent of John Warren ABP customers had their collections made within 24 hours, whilst 99 per cent of respondents saying they were very satisfied with the service provided by Warrens.
The success was also helped by three key additions to the company's service offering.
Firstly, the County Durham based business added a fleet of purpose built vehicles for septic tank and liquid waste collections to its portfolio, enabling it to offer its clients key services such as slurry transport, effluent disposal, septic tank emptying and cleaning, cesspool emptying, drain cleaning and unblocking and high pressure jetting.
It was also awarded planning permission and environmental permitting for a waste transfer station at the site in Hamsterley, as well as for use by its commercial customers the new licenses will enable it to recycle most farm waste materials such as silage wraps, fertilizer bags and chemical containers.
Finally it also created a free new online service for its clients, which supplies the farmer with comprehensive compliance reports that meet the stringent criteria required by DEFRA, Trading Standards and farm inspectors. The facility enables farmers to view invoices, review orders, check current prices and most importantly, collate reports that detail the number of animals lost, complete with their date of birth, date of disposal and their ear tag reference.
Antony Warren, Director, John Warren ABP, said: "We had a successful 2011 which saw the business expand into new key markets and our client base increase significantly. The challenge for us now is to ensure we build on that during 2012 and that's why we are actively working towards growing the business across North Yorkshire and Lancashire. We believe the quality and cost of services we offer to our current clients will appeal to farmers further afield and are excited at the opportunities this presents to us."
"In addition, the development of Emerald Biogas, our new anaerobic digestion plant at Newton Aycliffe Industrial Estate, which will turn food waste into energy is making great progress and will provide further opportunities for our current farmers as well as new customers."
He adds: "We're also realistic that in the current climate this year will be challenging for us and our customers and that's why we're planning on conducting our own online survey to determine if there are services they would like to see us to introduce and if there's anything they'd like us to do differently. It's very important that we continue to provide the best service we can and this exercise will enable us to do just that."
John Warren ABP, which is based at Hamsterley in Bishop Auckland, has recently been recommended for IS014001 certification, which recognises its conformance with regulations and best environmental practice.
Since it was founded, John Warren ABP has built a reputation as the North East of England's premier animal by-product collector. As the business evolved, the company introduced food waste collection and disposal services enabling it support the wider sector from the farm through to abattoir, and processor to retailers. In addition to collecting and disposing of fallen stock from farms and contracted government schemes, the company also collects commercial and industrial waste, animal by-products, food waste, farm recycling and used cooking oils.
