Whale Tankers of Solihull has seen long standing customer, Viridor - one of the UK's leading resource and waste management companies - extend the scope of its WHALECare preventative maintenance contract to cover the company's ADR tanker fleet in the South East. Included within the agreement are intermediate and periodic inspections as required by ADR and which are undertaken by Whale Tankers' independent inspection body, WhaleINSPECTION.
With Whale now assuming responsibility for an additional seven ADR tankers - a combination of new and upgraded vehicles - Viridor is one of Whale Tankers' largest WHALECare customers. Designed to maximise the safety, performance and operating life of Whale's specialist equipment, the WHALECare contract sees a 17-strong team of field-based Service Engineers, with eight on hand to oversee the maintenance of a fleet of 101 vehicles across Viridor's south west and south east territories.
Commenting on Viridor's decision to extend the scope of its WHALECare agreement, Peter Caesar said: "Whale Tankers has a thorough understanding of the entire legislative process and know exactly what is required to ensure our vehicles and their associated equipment meet what are increasingly exacting standards. They have spent the last five to six years looking after our entire tanker fleet in the south of the country and to great effect. They provide exactly the level of back-up that we are looking for."
Having been in operation for some 15 years, Whale's WHALECare programme is unique within the waste and cleaning industries. Established as a fixed price maintenance service, customers know costs in advance and can hence budget accordingly. Being a field-based operation, service and maintenance can be carried out at a customer's premises and to suit bespoke vehicle and equipment scheduling.
Each programme is specially tailored to the customer's need and they can be reassured that components and equipment are tested in accordance with the approved maintenance schedule, with any necessary remedial work being undertaken as a means of safeguarding against vehicle downtime. Whale carries out four tests for Viridor annually, which ensures that all Viridor equipment is fully compliant with legislation.
Commenting on behalf of Whale, Service Manager, Jamie Campbell said: "Whilst WHALECare has always been a popular part of our service offering, it is an area of the business that has grown significantly over the last twelve to eighteen months. We believe that this is largely attributable to more and more customers seeking to tap into the unique features the service provides, in particular the fact that for a fixed fee their vehicles and equipment meet the latest legislation requirements."
