Whale Tankers supplies articulated tipping tanker to Harper's Waste Management Services of York

The tanker sports the company's bold yellow, white and blue livery. Manufactured to ADR Class 3, 6.1 and 8 specifications and with the capacity to transport hazardous waste, the 44-tonne GVW unit with tri-axle running gear has joined Harper's 63 strong HGV fleet.

Complete with Edbro tipping gear, the unit has been designed as a lightweight, effective and flexible deep lifting vacuum tanker. In addition to a main 5,400 gallon tipping tank, with inbuilt 220 gallon overspill compartment, Harper's specified a separate static, front-mounted tank for improved vehicle stability when in tipping mode. Both the tanks and water-jetting compartment are manufactured from 316-grade stainless steel.

Featuring SAF tri-axle air suspension with lifting front axle, load sensing and stability traction control, the tipping tanker incorporates the powerful Kaiser - KWP3100i liquid ring pump. Driven by its own chassis mounted diesel engine, the pump delivers a powerful operating performance of 3100m3/h and 85% maximum vacuum.

With three top man lids on the main tipping tank and full length walkway, the tri-axle semi-trailer unit is also equipped with a rear offside mounted jetting system that has a hydraulically operated reel and 60m ½" high pressure hose for vehicle cleaning and washing down.

When commissioned, the ADR tipping tanker will be predominantly deployed by Harper's - one of the UK's most progressive waste management companies - to vacuum sludges on behalf of major utility providers and private customers.

Commenting on the specification of the new unit, Harper's Operations Director, Kevin Maguire said: "The new tipping tanker is the sixth new Whale to enter our fleet over the last couple of years. In addition to being a very robust product, which is essential given the fact that they often operate in hostile environments, Whale tankers are very user-friendly and simple to operate."
