The new Vectorā„¢ 1350 unit from Carrier Transicold, delivering a capacity of 12,700 watts, is optimised for long haul transportation and rounds out the Vector range, now comprised of three specialised refrigeration units designed to suit a multitude of customer applications. Carrier Transicold helps improve global transport and shipping temperature control with a complete line of equipment for refrigerated trucks, trailers and containers and is part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
The Vector 1350 unit maximises payload and reliability while minimising fuel consumption and system downtime, all within a lightweight package that optimises capacity to maintain temperature over long distances. The 1.1 litre engine, driven by a new control, reduces fuel consumption by up to 30 per cent over Carrier Transicold's Maxima unit, under the new upcoming CEN Partial Load regulation test protocol, and drives both a compressor and a generator to power the ventilation system. Three electric fans significantly improve system reliability by reducing the number of belts needed compared to belt-driven units.
The Vector 1350 unit joins the established Vector range, which includes the 14,800 watt Vector 1550 and the 18,800 watt Vector 1950. The Vector 1550 unit delivers excellent pull-down and temperature control to transport a variety of perishable and temperature-sensitive goods for a wide range of logistical applications, while the high capacity Vector 1950 mono- and multi-temperature units provide faster pull-down and the ability to haul larger loads for intensive city deliveries with frequent stops and door openings. Both the Vector 1550 and 1950 units feature Carrier's E-Driveā„¢ all-electric technology.
"With our comprehensive Vector range, Carrier Transicold offers its customers the right Vector unit for each of their missions, providing specific units for long haul transport or distribution, and under any condition," said David Appel, president, Carrier Transicold.
As part of the range, the Vector 1350 unit has been designed to provide maximum coldchain protection and optimum total cost of ownership while lowering its carbon footprint. As well, by using a microchannel condenser coil the Vector 1350 unit carries 27 per cent less refrigerant than its predecessor.
