Logistics UK said Mr Trenchard had played a leading role in driving sustainable change across the sector
UK logistics figure John Trenchard has been named Logistics Leader of the Year, as his work championing greener supply chains and commercial innovation earns top recognition from the industry.
Business group Logistics UK awarded the honour to Mr Trenchard, vice president for commercial and supply chain at DP World, at its annual Logistics Awards, held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge on Thursday 11 December 2025. He received the award from Sultana Rahman, UK marketing and communications lead at sponsor Flexis.
Logistics UK said Mr Trenchard had played a leading role in driving sustainable change across the sector, helping to turn environmental ambition into commercially viable practice. Through initiatives such as Modal Shift and Carbon Inset, he has been credited with embedding lower-carbon approaches into logistics operations while demonstrating that sustainability and growth can go hand in hand.
Kevin Green, acting chief executive of Logistics UK, said Mr Trenchard’s influence reached well beyond his own organisation. “John is an inspirational and innovative leader whose influence has had a positive impact on the logistics industry, extending beyond DP World and shaping the broader UK logistics industry and helping it towards a greener, more efficient future,” he said. “I would like to congratulate him on his win; he is truly the Logistics Leader of the Year.”
Accepting the award, Mr Trenchard paid tribute to those he works alongside. “I can’t believe it to be honest. I’m very proud,” he said. “I’m lucky to have an amazing team, amazing stakeholders, amazing people to work with. We’ve learned an awful lot, we’re involved in all sorts of segments and it’s an absolute pleasure to work with people across the industry, this is fantastic.”
James Stephens, vice president of corporate affairs for the UK and Ireland at DHL Supply Chain, was highly commended in the same category.
Logistics UK said its 2025 awards were designed to recognise companies and individuals who have made a significant contribution to the logistics and supply industry over the past year and who have demonstrated excellence in their fields. The event was supported by headline sponsor Crown Oil, drinks reception sponsor the Port of Dover, and a range of industry organisations including Brigade Electronics (UK), Close Brothers, Depot Connect International, DP World, Flexis, Howard Tenens Logistics, Logistics UK Recovery Service, Motive, Palletways, Samsara and Wise.
Entries for the 2026 Logistics Awards are set to open in March, with next year’s awards ceremony scheduled to take place in December.
