UK arm of global logistics provider Geodis Geodis Calberson launches direct daily service to Italy

Geodis Calberson, the UK arm of global logistics provider Geodis, has launched a new direct daily service to Italy in response to demand from its customers.

Dedicated tractor units will be used on the daily runs, which represent a major investment for the company that is expanding its operations in the UK.

Its premium market leading distribution products EUROTOP and EUROFIRST are both available on the route in addition to Geodis Calberson's standard groupage.

EUROTOP is aimed at the high-end finished consumer goods market and designed to give customers extra peace of mind that their valuable shipments will arrive reliably and swiftly at their destinations.

Customers have direct contact with a dedicated and proactive customer service team, backed by online and real time access to the status of shipments and POD documents with e-sp@ce. Shipments are proactively monitored by a network of local branch offices, drawing on the extensive reach of Geodis, the fourth-largest end-to-end logistics provider in Europe.

EUROFIRST offers a premium door-to-door delivery service with guaranteed journey times of between 48-96 hours to 10 European countries and is ideally suited to daily or parts suppliers delivering to distribution or repair centres.

Jamie Cuthbert, Managing Director of Geodis Calberson, said: "Our new daily service to Italy, with platforms in Milan and Bologna, is an exciting development which we believe will prove extremely popular.

"The daily runs will give our existing customers an improved service, with more choice, and will be a very attractive option for new customers. As more people in the UK come to appreciate the strength and depth of Geodis' operations, we are expecting business levels to increase."

Geodis Calberson is going from strength to strength in the UK where it has 11 sites, 340 employees and 65 independent licensees in the Fortec Pallet Network that enable it to provide transport and logistics solutions to a wide variety of businesses across the country.

As a key part of the international Geodis group, which has 26,200 employees across 126 countries, it has a global reach. Geodis Calberson can offer customers a unique set of transport and logistics services encompassing all supply chain activities across the UK, Europe and indeed worldwide.
