Troax steel partitioning creates office and storage facilities for M J Drilling

Troax's modular, double skin, steel partitioning system, Excalibur, has been used to create new office and storage facilities at M & J Drilling's premises in Dudley. The company is a specialist contractor in the investigation and stabilisation of shallow mineworkings and provides state-of-the-art drilling rigs and associated equipment from its West Midlands base.

Excalibur steel partitioning was specified for the project as it provided extremely robust and durable walling in this busy, industrial environment. In particular, its heavy duty construction allows it to withstand the tough operating conditions in the warehouse where heavy plant and equipment such as drilling rigs, tanks, pumps, compressors and rough terrain forklifts are stored.

To create the new offices and storage areas, interior fit-out contractor JDI divided a newly constructed extension using the Excalibur partitioning. Excalibur's double skin design (comprising two steel skins separated by an inert mineral wool insulating infill) provides a high level of sound and heat insulation, essential to provide a comfortable working environment in this type of site where offices adjoin a noisy, industrial area.

Pedestrian and industrial doors have been installed, together with double glazed panels which allow plenty of light into the offices. An insulated steel suspended ceiling provides further sound-proofing.

Excalibur partitioning provides an excellent solution for constructing offices in this type of industrial environment as Tony Gittins, contacts manager at JDI explains: "Excalibur's hard-wearing design makes it ideal for this type of site and its high quality powder coated paint finish means it also looks extremely smart. The quality of the partitioning is excellent and it's also very competitively priced. We found Troax's service to be first rate which is why we use them regularly for this type of project."
