Transdek's award winning lifts take to CV Show stage

Lifting and loading equipment innovator, Transdek UK is demonstrating the unique operating capabilities of its award winning double deck lifting solutions on stand 5C71 at the CV Show at the NEC Birmingham, 29 April to 1 May 2014.

Transdek will be exhibiting working models of its 6.5-tonne V2G (vehicle to ground) and 6.5T double deck lifts. The units will be featured in 'naked' style, with no cladding, to illustrate the British engineering expertise beneath each easy to install loading pod's 'skin'.

The latest Transdek product development, which will be introduced at this year's CV Show, is an optional in-built loadhouse ramp that enables direct run through between a standard 900mm double deck trailer and typical 1200mm dock bay. The ramp marries to the dock or dock leveller with a maximum gradient of 4-degrees and enables direct loading on to the bottom deck of a typical UK double deck trailer. This can speed a complete loading cycle up to as little as 45 minutes.

Providing a cost effective solution, Transdek's surface mounted lifts are installed directly onto existing floor areas and do not require any pit installations. Units are typically fitted in as little as one day by experienced in-house engineering teams.

The modular equipment is designed to provide a future proof option with the ability to service all current and anticipated goods vehicle types, including ultra low floor Euro and urban double deck trailers.

To ensure dynamic product development, tight production control and short lead times, Transdek's wide range of lifts and loading products are all manufactured in the UK at custom-built facilities in Harworth, Yorkshire. As well as winning two Queen's Awards for Enterprise in Innovation, the company has also won Design4Safety and Motor Transport awards for its range of self-contained double deck lift pods.

As a leading UK manufacturer of double deck loading systems and high-cube vehicle concepts, Transdek will also launch its brand-new Double Deck Urban Eco Trailer (DUET) in Hall 5.

The trailer has been developed to meet the growing retailer demand for greater transport efficiencies on last-mile deliveries to urban centres. For city-centre deliveries, the DUET offers high-level manoeuvrability, low-roof height, unique 'sash window' twin sliding rear doors, and up to 200% load volume compared to 18-tonne rigid trucks.

A recognised industry expert and innovator, Transdek's Managing Director, Mark Adams FCILT, has a wide range of industry experience, spanning over 50 years in the logistics sector.

Adams says: "With the growth of the convenience format in the grocery retail sector and an increasing focus on high-street deliveries, we believe there is an opportunity to revolutionise the efficiency of urban freight deliveries. On the one hand, retailers are wanting to target the relatively high transport costs in to city centres; and on the other, there is increasing pressure on councils and transport operators to ease congestion and emissions, and to restrict access for urban store deliveries.

"With our new DUET trailer, up to 100% more product can be carried per vehicle, which offers significantly improved operations for logistics companies, reduces the number of vehicles making deliveries, cuts transport costs and slashes CO2 emissions."

Transdek's double deck lifts and the DUET both have international patents granted and pending.
