Toyota launches redesigned Optio L-Series order pickers

The new range introduces a series of ergonomic features designed to ease operator workload

Toyota Material Handling Europe has unveiled its new Toyota Optio L-Series, a redesigned generation of low-level order pickers aimed at boosting warehouse efficiency and safety.

The updated L-Series has been engineered for demanding multi-shift operations and high pick rates, with Toyota promising improvements in ergonomics, energy efficiency and operator protection.

The new range introduces a series of ergonomic features designed to ease operator workload. These include increased platform lift heights, reduced step-in access, and model configurations capable of handling loads of up to 2.5 tonnes.

Six updated models are available within the range — including the OSE250/P, OSE120/P and OSE200X/180XP — covering a variety of order picking requirements, particularly in the fast-moving consumer goods sector.

Enhanced platform damping minimises vibrations, while a spacious operator platform and wide entry — the largest in its class — improve comfort during intensive tasks. A new lift height of 1,195mm allows operators to reach picking levels of up to 2.8 metres. Optional features such as side-mounted walkie buttons and expanded storage are also offered to optimise workflow.

Toyota says the L-Series is now 10% more energy efficient than its predecessor, thanks to optimised weight and flexible battery configurations ranging from traditional lead-acid to high-performance lithium-ion. Intelligent service access is also designed to cut downtime and lower operating costs.

Safety features include PIN-code login, optional Smart Access, and Toyota’s Optimised Truck Performance system, which automatically reduces speed during cornering and load handling.

A redesigned ergonomic backrest with side grips offers support when stepping onto the platform or manoeuvring in reverse. Integrated blue or red warning lights and positioning lights are also available to improve visibility in busy warehouse environments.

“Continuous improvements and quality are at the heart of everything we do. Our newly launched Optio L-series order picker features a sleek design and advanced engineering to enhance safety, reduce energy consumption, increase driver comfort, and deliver the next level of operational performance. As the logistics sector continues to grow and evolve, productivity is key. This new solution empowers our customers to run efficient, future-ready operations with confidence,” said Jose Maria Gener, Vice President Sales & Marketing at Toyota Material Handling Europe.

Toyota describes the new range as the first step in an upgrade of its Optio order picker family. The models will be available to order from the end of September 2025.
