Timet UK orders Konecranes for Swansea production facility

Konecranes UK's Industrial Crane Division based in East Kilbride has won the order to supply Timet UK's Swansea facility with three CXTD style cranes where 2 of them are equipped to have special lifting beams. Since 1950, TIMET has been leading the industry in mill and melted products, supplying nearly one-fifth of the world's titanium demand.

The cranes are three 5 tonne CXTD double girder models which will operate over 10, 19.9 and 15.2 metre spans. The special lifting beams are required to handle the long metal rods involved in the production facility. All are fitted with Konecranes state-of-the-art technology, including DynAMove variable speed control on cross and long travel motions and DynAHoist variable speed control on the hoists. Other features include Konecranes Remox Radio control, festoon cross crane cabling, fully enclosed drive transmissions, disc brakes, galvanised ropes and ControlPro Safety and a performance control unit that extend the crane's life, enhance performance and safety and ensures that maintenance requirements are scheduled to suit actual usage, and unscheduled shutdowns are avoided.

The contract worth in excess of £300k will be delivered September this year.
