The Romania-based contract logistics specialist, Tibbett Logistics, was named winner of the principal award at the 6th annual Gala Awards of the Romanian Rail Industry Association - Clubul Feroviar - on 8 December 2011. Tibbett Logistics is part of the fast-growing UK-based Keswick Enterprises group.
The event recognises organisations and individuals who have contributed
significantly to the Romanian rail industry over the previous 12 months, and
those who have done most to promote rail transport.
The top prize of the evening - the 'Business Initiative Award for Excellence
in the Rail Industry' - was presented to Tibbett Logistics in recognition of
its contribution to supporting intermodal (road-rail) logistics in Romania,
coupled with the recent development of its second intermodal terminal in
Bucharest.
The Award was collected by Tibbett Logistics' CEO, David Goldsborough,
accompanied by George Petre and Adriana Popescu from the company's
intermodal operations management team.
The news concluded a busy week for Tibbett Logistics - following the
official opening of its new intermodal terminal at Europolis Park in the
west of Bucharest and the arrival there of the first trains from Constanta.
Presenting the Award, Stefan Roseanu, Senior Partner of Clubul Feroviar,
said: "The Business Initiative Award for Excellence in the Rail Industry is
presented for the year 2011 to Tibbett Logistics for its vision in investing
in the development of a multimodal terminal within the Bucharest area.
Through this investment we hope that transport companies can find more solid
grounds for choosing the Constanta Harbour and Romania as supply routes for
Central and Eastern Europe. I am convinced that the efforts of Tibbett's
team to lay the foundations for such a development were not insignificant in
the circumstances - a pioneering achievement for our country".
Thanking the Association, David Goldsborough added: "It is gratifying to be
honoured and to receive this Award in recognition of the efforts of our
intermodal team over recent years and months. They have been totally
committed and have worked tirelessly to develop operations in this very
exciting sector of the rail industry.
"This Award is for them. but I would also like to acknowledge the unwavering
support and encouragement of our parent company Keswick Enterprises in these
initiatives. Too often the rail sector has gained a reputation for myopia
and lack of strategic vision of the supply chain. Demonstrably, this need
not be so, and from the outset we have approached the business not simply
from the perspective of a rail operator, but as a logistics service
provider. Our achievements and this Award demonstrate that if you are
determined to find new and effective solutions to logistics and
transportation problems, then you will surely succeed."
Tibbett Logistics is Romania's largest privately owned contract logistics
specialist. In addition to its intermodal activities it offers
comprehensive services to the automotive, textiles, retail and other FMCG
sectors throughout Romania and beyond - operating approximately 100,000
square metres of warehousing plus a distribution fleet comprising tilt
trailers, double- and triple-chamber reefers and container chassis, along
with its own intermodal rail wagons.
