The Shredding Alliance delivers a national approach to Seetec's Secure document disposal

Seetec, one of the UK's leading training and employment specialists, has appointed The Shredding Alliance (TSA) to handle the secure destruction of documents across its entire network of offices.

The appointment forms part of the centralisation of Seetec's document disposal policy and overall management via its Essex-based head quarters. Located throughout the UK, Seetec's 50 offices will receive scheduled on-site shredding and recycling services from TSA to guarantee compliance with the Data Protection Act and ISO27001:2005 the International standard in Information Security.

Alan Flay, Information Security Manager at Seetec, comments: "All of our staff handle highly confidential, personal information on a daily basis, the security of document disposal has always been high on Seetec's agenda. In the past document disposal has been dealt with effectively via local level solutions. However, like most businesses Seetec is dedicated to driving efficiencies throughout operations, so wanted to partner with a confidential document disposal service provider that could offer nationwide coverage."

Formed by a number of the UK's leading independent document shredding and recycling companies, TSA is a unique service proposition which aims to deliver improved customer experience, increased response times and better value for money to nationwide and multi-site organisations. TSA has worked with Seetec to not only drive efficiencies and realise economies of scale with its secure shredding service but also greatly reduce administration time by putting in place a flexible, single source agreement.

"TSA was the only company that took the time to visit our premises prior to submitting a formal proposal. Our decision to appoint TSA was not driven by cost alone, it was important that we procured a supplier that operated to high security levels, such as BS EN15713:2009 and delivered the correct level of service. In addition, we have been able to demonstrate our green commitments using the monthly statistics and reporting information supplied by TSA. We have not been disappointed; TSA has ensured the seamless implementation of our shredding agreement and all of our regionally-based staff have been kept extremely well informed." continues Flay.

As part of its standard service TSA undertook a free appraisal of Seetec's business operations and as a result a phased implementation strategy was put in place. This ensured that correct service level benchmarks were set, dependent on the size and requirements of each individual office, before the shredding service was rolled out nationwide.

Daniel Hawtin, managing director, TSA concludes: "We aim to provide a completely flexible service for all our multi-site customers that not only guarantees compliance with the Data Protection Act but is cost effective. All TSA shredding trucks are fitted with legal for trade scales, so we are able to accurately weigh the amount of waste paper handled at each location to ensure the right level of service, something that was important to Seetec.

"In addition to saving administration time with a single source agreement, Seetec is provided with detailed management information reports at the end of each month, that allow for effective and central management of the shredding service provided at each and every office location."

Considering the importance of the environment in document shredding and recycling procurement; TSA only uses the latest mobile shredding vehicles with minimum environmental impact and off-site plants which benefit from energy efficient shredding technology. Working to the highest standards, all TSA document handling operatives have been fully vetted to BS7858 and all service suppliers operate to ISO9001:2008 incorporating BS EN15713:2009 - the European standard for the destruction of confidential information.
