Navman Wireless is launching the next generation of vehicle tracking software, offering companies managing fleets radical and dynamic new ways of viewing driver locations.
OnlineAVL2 integrates full aerial photographic images with traditional street level mapping to display, at a glance from any PC, the position of vehicles in relation to neighbourhood buildings, depots, car parks etc.
The software's high tech functionality and improved user interface – the springboard for a raft of planned telematics developments – also includes 'hybrid mapping', displaying bird's eye photographic images with road names overlaid.
"This cutting edge software has been more than two years in development and takes vehicle tracking technology to a new level," said Tony Neill, Vice President Europe, Middle East and Africa, Navman Wireless.
"We researched the requirements of the marketplace and listened to our customers. The successor to OnlineAVL, one of the fastest selling and most user friendly tracking applications on the market, is faster, slicker and more intuitive than ever before and follows a multi-million pound investment by the company into its research and development."
Users can zoom in on vehicles displayed on photographic images, using pop-up boxes, while at the same time observe their locations in the context of the broader geographical area via a traditional vector map in the corner of the same screen.
The Windows-based application, providing access to fleet activity data, 24x7, via the internet, also offers 128-bit encryption meeting industry's high-grade security standards.
Tony Neill adds: "The advancements of OnlineAVL2, combined with the systems' extensive range of additional functionality, strengthens Navman Wireless's vehicle tracking and fleet management system as the most complete and cost effective on the market."
OnlineAVL2, available from February 2008, has been developed by a team of 40 research and development engineers based at Navman Wireless's Innovation Centre in New Zealand. Further key features of the software system include:
unlimited two-way messaging to one, some or all vehicles from an office desktop integrated satellite navigation functionality for drivers
real time and historical activity records accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
comprehensive management reports comprising speed analysis reports and full Working Time Directive compliance facilities (including the option to alert drivers when they should be taking a break) Driver ID technology allowing multiple drivers to use the same vehicle, and management to still keep a check on how many hours they are driving
the ability to receive alerts if vehicles have been stationary for too long, move when they shouldn't, or if drivers trigger panic buttons to warn of security breaches
polygonal geofence technology to define boundary lines of any shape or size around locations to enable reports and alerts on boundary crossing and site visits seamless integration with a range of complimenting technologies from vehicle weighing to routing and scheduling systems.
