Running the most widely accredited mobile device repair facility in the UK is tough enough but four directors from Midlands-based Unipart Technology Logistics reckon it will seem like a stroll in the park compared to their latest challenge.
More at home in the boardroom than the saddle, Managing Director Claire Walters,
IT Director Steve Thomason, Operations Director Barrie Brackstone and Commercial
Director Nicola Couse will be donning their cycling shorts this September and
pedaling the 300 miles from London to Paris to raise money for Beating Bowel
Cancer, the UK's leading bowel cancer charity. Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in the UK after lung cancer, with 35,500 people diagnosed with the
disease every year.
The intrepid four are set to complete the route in just four days from 30 September to 3 October. The time and hard work that the team are committing to complete the
challenge will all be worthwhile if they succeed in reaching their target of £25,000 for a cause close to the hearts of the team, who have lost family, friends and colleagues to the disease.
"The last time I rode a bike there were stabilisers attached, and that was 25 years ago!" says Claire. "But now I'm cycling every day after work and am doing 70 miles every weekend.
"We're absolutely committed to completing the ride and raising the funds to ensure that Beating Bowel Cancer can continue to provide essential care to bowel cancer
sufferers and their families, as well as ongoing research and education."
