A crisis of confidence is apparent in all UK commercial sectors! There is a definite belief that the recession will persist and deepen throughout 2010. This is the startling conclusion of the latest annual survey undertaken by Logistics Support Services in conjunction with the Logistics Leaders Network.
The survey from among 200 leading supply chain professionals across all business sectors, highlights that the real danger to recovery is a "failure to act" to redress the problems caused by the recession. The failings in the financial sector and the adverse trading positions of various other sectors are well documented.
The survey also points clearly to a political and investment vacuum while businesses wait for the outcome of the General Election expected in May. However it appears that supply chain professionals believe that if businesses do not act now to start to make changes, there could be fatal consequences to the economy and business confidence for the foreseeable future.
"We should require our political leaders and business leaders to commit to timetabled development and change and demonstrate real leadership not kneejerk reactions to individual issues", commented Peter Jeffery, CEO, Logistics Support Services.
"For business leaders, this is their opportunity to show what they are made of. With so little that is now going on politically, commercially and financially, for those prepared to take the first step there is a good chance others will follow their lead. Above all, remember that doing nothing is not an option".
