The best in class in the supply-chain and logistics industry were recognised at the prestigious Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) – CILT(UK) Annual Awards for Excellence 2006.
This year's Supply-Chain Integration award, sponsored by The BJD Group was presented to Homebase Limited for the company's holistic and structured analysis of the end-to-end supply chain which resulted in the delivery of a four per cent increase in market share, improved availability and better service with cost-savings.
O2 (UK) Ltd was the winner of the Environmental Improvement award, sponsored by Clipper Logistics Group. The judges were impressed by O2 (UK) Ltd's innovative solutions to the environmental and customer service issues surrounding the handset return process. The vision and sustained initiative by the supply chain division has resulted in savings in transport, administration and packaging costs while improving customer service and complying with the government's WEEE directive.
Multipart Supply Chain Solutions were the winners of the Information Management award sponsored by O2, which has been commended for use of technologies in the replacement of 250,000 water meters. Working in partnership with Anglian Water Services, Multipart has implemented resource scheduling and reporting software to save engineers time and answer customers needs.
Finally, NHS Supply Chain has won the Materials Management award, sponsored by Narrow Aisle Flexi. Supplying over 50,000 products to hundreds of NHS Trusts, NHS Supply Chain received recognised for the successful upgrade of its 15 year-old order management system which resulted in making savings of over £100 million per annum.
The winners in each category received their award from HRH, the Princess Royal, the Institute's royal patron at the gala dinner evening, which was held at the Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London. Hosting the ceremony was award winning TV and radio broadcaster John Suchet.
