Vitronic, leading supplier of camera-based identification systems for warehousing and logistics, reports great success from CeMAT 2008, the five-day intralogistics trade fair in Hanover, Germany. The company exhibited a range of products, and had experienced sales engineers on the stand to assist visitors. By the end of CeMAT 2008, Vitronic had dealt with hundreds of enquiries and generated a large number of sales leads.
Kluas Michael Buecher, Director of Sales and Marketing, is positive; "A large number of decision makers attend CeMAT, so it is an excellent way to meet potential customers. We demonstrated VIPAC, our camera-based automated parcel identification system, throughout the exhibition – the visitor response was enormous! This will lead to tangible benefits as the company moves forward in 2008."
A modular system, VIPAC operates over sorters and high-speed conveyors. It captures high- resolution images of parcel labels with high-speed, auto-focus, line-scan cameras, and identifies them using Vitronic software, algorithms for barcodes and optical character recognition (OCR) techniques. Unlike traditional laser barcode scanners, VIPAC reads damaged, marked or poor quality codes, address information and supplier numbers. Together with videocoding, a facility that allows the manual input of unreadable information, VIPAC identifies nearly 100% of codes and addresses correctly, allowing users to achieve previously impossible levels of efficiency.
Vitronic also exhibited two VIPAC compatible products at CeMAT 2008. VICAM-mobile, a high-performance portable handheld camera scanner, and Volumec HS2s, a package volume- measuring device that allows automated invoicing. These were of great interest to CeMAT visitors.
Klaus continued; "CeMAT 2008 was a great success for Vitronic. We forged strategic partnerships with other industry players and presented our products to a largely international audience. It is interesting to talk to potential customers, as their applications tend to be unique. Bespoke solutions are Vitronic's specialty - something we communicated to stand visitors. CeMAT was definitely worth attending!"
