J & D Pierce, the foremost structural steel fabrication and erection
contractor in Scotland, has awarded the contract to supply 6 cranes for its
Glengarnock facility in Ayrshire, Scotland, to Konecranes UK's Industrial
Crane Division based in East Kilbride.
The contract is for the supply of five x 5 tonne and one x 10 tonne
Konecranes CXTS single girder cranes. They will operate in two bays with
17.3mt span with 3 cranes in each. The cranes will have thermal protection
of all motors along with other KONECR5ANES features such as DynADrive
inverter variable speed control on cross and long travel motions and dual
speed hoists. The cranes also have festooned cross travel conductors,
Koneductor enclosed long travel conductors in each bay, ControlPro condition
monitors on each hoist, Konecranes Remox radio control and back up pendant
and they are all equipped with limit switches on each motion.
The craneshave Konecranes unique remote monitoring system, where the crane data from the condition monitor is being monitored remotely by a team of Konecranes
engineers around the world on a follow the sun basis and should any problem
or system change be detected at any time of day or night then an immediate
report is sent to the local Konecranes service office so they can attend to
the issue, without client intervention.
The contract worth nearly £100k is to be delivered in October this year.
