A significant improvement has been made to the proven STILL R 70-25 and R 70-30 counterbalance forklift trucks, which will mean they consume even less fuel. From the beginning of 2006, these two diesel R 70 machines, which are already recognised as being amongst the most fuel efficient machines available, will be supplied with Intelligent Drive Management as standard.
STILL's Intelligent Drive Management system allows the truck to be driven at high speeds but with much lower engine revs. Under acceleration the truck proceeds as normal. However, once the desired travel speed has been reached, the engine speed will be reduced by approximately 30%, improving fuel efficiency by 5% – 9% depending on application.
Additional benefits include reduced engine noise and engine wear. Not only does this result in a quieter and more comfortable driving environment, it reduces emissions still further and makes the R 70 even more reliable.
