Spaceway South's ability to provide a complete turnkey operation has resulted in the company winning the contract to fit out a prestigious and functional UK headquarters for Delacamp, a leading supplier of components to the remanufacturing industry. Its superior designs and project management skills won Spaceway the £400K contract on a competitive tender.
The new 25,000 square foot building located, in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, comprises of office accommodation, warehousing and a production facility. Replacing Delacamp's facility in Frome, which the company had outgrown, the new head office has been designed and built to the company's specification.
Using Spaceway South to fit out the interior has enabled Delacamp's management team to focus on its core business. Spaceway South not only undertook the total project management of the fit out but also ensured that all work was carried out in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and under the Construction Design Management (CDM) Act 1994 relating to health and safety regulations.
"We chose Spaceway because we felt they were capable of carrying out a project of this size", said Richard Day, Managing Director of Delacamp (UK) Ltd. "Spaceway's management team were extremely professional and kept us fully informed about developments at our regular meetings".
At the onset of the project, Spaceway produced detailed designs for each sector of the building. To maximise space for the warehouse, Spaceway suggested the installation of two FlooriTallĆ” mezzanine floors. Once this structural work had been completed, Spaceway fitted out the warehouse with Komfort's clean room partitioning, an Apex racking system and Troax anti-collapse mesh, a versatile anti-collapse system for cladding areas of pallet racking which face onto a pedestrian aisle.
The offices were fitted out with Komfort Kameo partitioning, suspended ceilings, a storage wall, floor covering and finished with a passenger lift. To complete the project, Spaceway installed an air conditioning and ventilation system, warehouse heating, electrics, lighting and a fire escape. Kitchens, a canteen, toilets and shower rooms were also designed and installed in the building.
"We looked at a number of companies for this prestigious site, but chose Spaceway for their quality products, excellent reputation and first class workmanship", concluded Richard Day. "Spaceway is extremely skilled and has great technical expertise which makes them a highly respected supplier".
Established in 1976, Spaceway is recognised as one of the UK's leading providers of integrated interior space solutions for private sector businesses and public organisations. Located in Hampshire but serving customers across the South and Midlands, the company provides an integrated approach to space solutions that includes mezzanine floors, partitioning, suspended ceilings, storage systems, special structures as well as furniture and small parts storage.
