A room full of views will be provided by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents at Europe's biggest health and safety event being held in Birmingham in May.

RoSPA is staging The Big Network at Safety and Health Expo at the NEC on May 23.

The Society will set up a special room, close to its main exhibition stand, where health and safety professionals and others can meet experts on a wide range of subjects. They will be able to tackle anything which is of relevance to workplace health and safety.

Diane Preece, RoSPA Events Manager, said: "We believe people will learn more in four hours at The Big Network than by attending three one-day seminars because there will be such a wide range of views and knowledge available.

"This is a new way to learn and glean information with people choosing and concentrating only on the topics that are most important or useful to them.

"They can build their own programme for the day by joining in discussions with our experts at tables around the room dealing with such things as best practice, legislation and regulation updates and Health and Safety Executive key issues.

"One-to-one advice will be available as well as the chance to exchange ideas and experiences with colleagues in the same field. People will come away with workable strategies for dealing with health and safety issues in their own environment."

Subjects covered by some of the leading health and safety figures in the country will include: Construction (Design and Management) Regulations; fire risk assessment; managing stress and violence; asbestos; workplace transport; behavioural safety; health, work and well-being; noise and vibration; back pain; risk assessment and accident investigation; slips and trips; working at height; managing occupational road risk; drink and drugs in the workplace; preventing dermatitis; and protective equipment and control of hazardous substances.

The event will be particularly useful to health and safety professionals and representatives, risk advisers, environmental and quality professionals, facilities managers, training managers, operations managers, human resources professionals and consultants.

It will be staged in Hall 11 at the NEC. More details can be found at www.rospa.com/bignetwork/ or by calling 0870 777 2120 or e-mailing events@rospa.com .
