Sales and safety drive Motor Wheel Service at Truckfest Peterborough

Motor Wheel Service Distribution (MWSD) took orders in excess of £15k and received strong support for its wheel safety campaign at Truckfest Peterborough.

The new xlite super single forged aluminium wheels, with reduced weight and increased load index, and the next generation Xbrite, a technically advanced single part transparent finish offering the highest levels of corrosion resistance and unrivalled shine for xlite wheels, proved extremely popular with visitors.

Immediate sales were supplemented by over 100 leads and requests for information on the company's wheel safety campaign, which has seen managing director John Ellis present to both the Department of Transport and EU Transport Committee on the negative affects of non-circumferential hubs on CV wheels.

Ellis said: "I would class the event as extremely positive, not only in terms of sales and our relationship with end users but also in learning that our wheel safety campaign is gaining momentum at all levels of the market."

MWSD claims the new xlite super single forged aluminium wheels are among the lightest on market, and a change in profile by manufacturer Wheels India has enabled the load index to be increased to 5,000kg from 4,500kg.

The new 11.75 x 22.5 wheel, with a 0mm set and 10 x 26mm mounting holes, has had its weight reduced by 1.6kg to a leading 22.1kg. A 120mm inset wheel is also available, with its weight lowered by 4.4kg to 24.3kg.

The wheels are forged from a single aluminium billet using a computerised numeric control machine to produce a higher degree of production accuracy. xlite wheels are available in 17.5,19.5 and 22.5 inch sizes in three finishes - machined, polished and new generation Xbrite.

Benefits over steel wheels include unique safety features, reduced vibration and longer wear on surrounding parts, with the ultimate advantages of operating with forged aluminium wheels including extra payloads, reduced fuel usage and decreased CO² emissions.
